Cover Feature

Details

Roadside Assistance

Up to 1 hour's labour at the roadside. This may include repairs and/or fitting new parts. The cost of the parts are not covered.  We will not provide Road Rescue within half a mile of the address shown on your schedule.  (See Housecall below).

Recovery to Chosen Destination

If, in our opinion, your vehicle can't be fixed at the roadside your vehicle will be transported, with up to 5 passengers, to a garage for repairs (we do not cover the cost of repairs or further recoveries), or to your chosen destination.

If you choose to be towed to your final destination, it is then your responsibility to get the car repaired, you can't call to have your vehicle recovered again on your return trip.

Accident Recovery

If your car is damaged and you require it to be fixed under your motor insurance policy, call the motor claims line in the first instance. We will arrange for you to be towed to a garage. This will speed up the claims process.

Caravan and Trailer Cover (excluding housecall)

If you are towing a caravan or trailer when you break down, your policy covers the cost of recovering your caravan or trailer.

Housecall (optional)

Up to 1 hour's labour within half a mile from your home.  This may include repair and/or fitting of new parts.  The cost of the parts are not covered.

Emergency Telephone Number

The emergency telephone number is included in the Road Rescue "Welcome Pack".  It is the number you need to call in the event of a breakdown.

Assistance in Cases of Theft or Vandalism

If your car is damaged and you require it to be fixed under your motor insurance policy, call the motor claims line in the first instance. We will arrange for you to be towed to a garage. This will speed up the claims process.

Priority for lone women drivers and members who feel in a vulnerable position

If you are a lone female, have young children in the car, are disabled, or are a Road Rescue customer in a vulnerable situation, and you tell the controller when you report a breakdown, you will be given priority.

Assistance with windscreen and tyre replacement

If you are driving and your windscreen is damaged you can call Road Rescue and they will get someone out to fix/replace your screen.  You will have to pay for the cost of the new windscreen.  You can then claim this back under your Motor Insurance (less the windscreen excess).

If you are driving and need a new tyre, or have a spare tyre that you need help changing, Road Rescue will get someone out to help you change your tyre or supply you with a new tyre, fit it, and get you on your way.  You will have to pay for the cost of the new tyre.

Relief Driver

If you are away from home and fall ill, or are injured, and are the only person able to drive your car, Road Rescue may provide you with a relief driver who will take you home or to your chosen destination.

If you choose not to be taken home and want to continue your journey, you will not be able to use this service on your return journey for the same illness/injury.

This is not for minor ailments, a medical certificate must be sent to Britannia Rescue within 7 days, or you may be liable for the cost of the service.

Driver Negligence

If you breakdown because you run out of oil, petrol or run down your battery, Road Rescue will get someone to come out to you and get you moving again i.e. get you petrol, oil etc.  You will have to pay for the cost of any petrol, oil etc.

Personal Cover (optional)

This covers you and your partner in any privately owned car you drive or travel in. This option can be added to Standard or Standard Plus Housecall cover (for an additional charge). Where Personal Cover is selected we will need the personal details of the second driver to be covered (title, initials, first name, and surname).

European Cover (optional)

This option can be added to the Standard or Standard Plus Housecall cover (for an additional charge). It will cover you for travel in any European country stated in the Terms and Conditions of your Road Rescue cover for up to 180 days in a row. European Cover applies to your vehicle shown on your insurance schedule and does not apply to personal cover.

Road Rescue is provided by Britannia Rescue.
